Once a year, technicians from all over the country descend upon Komatsu's Training and Demonstration Facility in
Cartersville, GA to compete in the Komatsu Advanced Technician Competition (KATC).
The country's top field and service technicians participated in a week-long series of individual and team events that
tested their diagnostic, technical and troubleshooting skills on a variety of Komatsu equipment.
Faced with two "bugs" programmed on each machine, the technicians are asked to identify, troubleshoot and then share their solution with the judges. They are then judged based on correctly diagnosing the two problems, following safety protocol, utilizing available literature and diagnostic tools, and asking the judges relevant questions.
Chris Jankowiak, Anderson's Training Coordinator, attributes the company's continued success to maintaining a quality work ethic throughout the company. "We have very talented and dedicated technicians who work extremely hard to stay abreast of information they need to do their jobs efficiently," says Jankowiak. "Our in-house training is good, but these guys do a lot of self-study as well. When it comes down to it, they want to be able to troubleshoot and repair our customers' machines in the shortest time possible. They take pride in being the best.
