| Komatsu America helps sponsor Trench Safety Stand Down Week - June 17-21 - 06/11/2019 OSHA has made it an agency priority goal to prevent trench collapses and save lives. The 4th annual Trench Safety Stand Down will be held during the week of June 17-21, 2019 We are encouraging employers to participate during this week. This is a great time for employers and associations to set aside time to have open discussions with employees or members about trenching and excavation hazards and how to prevent them. Who Should Participate: Any size or type of company can hold a Stand-Down. Construction, as well as general industry stakeholders and government industry participate in these events each year. If your employees work in or around these hazards, you have a vested interest in standing down your operations to emphasize trenching and excavation safety. How Companies Can Hold A Stand Down: Companies can conduct a Trench Safety Stand Down by taking a break to have a toolbox talk or another safety activity to draw attention to the specific hazards related to working in and around trenches/excavations. Many employers choose to hold a toolbox talk, show an excavation safety video or hold a training class Here is an example of the material that you can cover in a short tool box talk. NUCA will publish the list of names of participating organizations on the NUCA website and in their printed publications.
